BARI ZIPERSTEIN - BRISTOL BIENNIAL

CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS!

1,095: WORKSHOPS with Los Angeles based artist Bari Ziperstein

Workshops: Tuesday May 29 & Friday 1 June, 2-5pm
At : Bristol Hub, College Green, Bristol.

Be a part of the people’s design history of Bristol by participating in a two-day performance workshop with Los Angeles based artist, Bari Ziperstein.  This workshop is being held in conjunction with Ziperstein’s Bristol Biennial project ‘1,095: One Year’s Worth of Other People’s Plates’ in which she will construct a sculptural mandala formed of stupas made from donated plates.

In these limited seated workshops, a week prior to the Biennial she will conduct two collaborative workshops with local Bristol residents from disparate backgrounds enabling them to engage in dialogue about the nature of site, history and storytelling.  Bristol residents will develop oral histories which will be performed while Ziperstein builds the mandala on the College Green.  These performances will convey some of the history of the area to onlookers, more specifically connecting history and identity to the plates on display.  These participants will develop and be paid a modest honorarium to perform their monologues during the building of the mandala.  These monologues will be recorded and available on Ziperstein’s project website for future generations to listen to.

We only have a few places left, please email contact@bristolbiennial.com to further information or to register interest.
